Miniature adults everywhere

The way parents dress their young ones these days is gradually becoming cause for concern.
I understand wanting our female daughter to look pretty and chic.
I understand keeping up with latest trend  in fashion.
What i don't understand or find difficult to tolerate is young female scantily dressed in very revealing outfits, forcing them to become miniature adults.
Some parents dress their children irresponsibly in the name of fashion and expect them to dress responsibly when they grow up. That's not gonna happen. If you start at a tender age to dress them scantily, when they grow up they become Lady Gaga (pardon me Gaga's fans).
It all starts from the home, parents have a lot of role to play in this.

Children are on summer break so get to see all sorts. Go into any shopping mall or cinema these days and you'll be amazed at what they wear out. Teenagers in ridiculously short skirts and dresses are at every corner.
There's this 9 year old female that stays on my close, she's always dressed in micro mini-skirts and very indecent short knickers. She walks down the road and we are all forced to stare. Its not just her legs we're staring at, neither is it the confidence she exudes. Its the blatant seductiveness and sensuality in her stride. The other day, i caught her winking at a male teenager and had to blink to be sure i saw right. Does she understand the "game" she's playing?

There has been numerous stories in the past of child molestation. I can be very passionate about issues pertaining to sexual abuse particularly when it is committed by family members or people is the child's circle of trust. The blame goes primarily to the molesters but parents have a role to play in the way they clothe their wards. Stories are coming up daily of fathers sexually assaulting their children. We constantly hear of houseboys and relatives violating young ones, lots of pedophiles out there. Often times these children are innocent and may be unaware of the damage done to them.
We regularly hear that men are turned on by what they see; women by what they hear. Some men even get turned on for no excuse at all. Why don't we help these men; why constantly get them excited. Not just the adult females that are guilty of this, some of our "innocent" children are too.

A close friend that works at a General Hospital told me few days back about his 3 year old  female patient. The mother complained that the toddler has itchy vagina. She assumed maybe sand got into the panties when she was playing during the summer class, or her daughter has very sensitive skin and reacting to the toiletries.
On examination, the mother wept profusely and started raining curses when she was told the state of her young child sexual health. I'm not gonna bore you with the details, but the doctor discovered that it was repeated sexual abuse. My heart weeps for her and for all other young children that has ever been violated.

If we're not careful this is what we'll see in our shopping malls/cinemas 2020.

TGIF! Fridays are gradually becoming my best day of the week.

    1. The media is obviously contributing big time. Watching music videos these days is becoming a little embarrassing and our young ones are constantly exposed to this.

  4. I remember discussing this with my sister. You dress them scantily from a tender age then try to stop them when they'r older? It's just not going to work.

  7. *shakingmyhead* Am kinda speechless. It's just so sad that this is what our society has turned to.Anyways, I feel deeply sorry for the 3yr old female patient; it's only God that can save that girl's future. I guess you're also correct about your prediction on what young people will be wearing to malls and cinemas in 2020. May God save us.

  8. This makes me so sad. A 3 year old child! Horrifyingly she is not alone and she will not be the last. God helps us. I always wonder when I see those girls at the malls, if their parents saw them before they left home or if they changed when they got to the mall.......But then again, what to do, when some of the moms are dressing even worse.......It's funny every woman and mom I know complains so I am like who and where are the ones letting their kids dress like that? Abi, we are all complaining yet doing nothing?

    1. Very well said DNW. Sometimes we're quick to assume the other person is the one doing wrong. We should look at our our kids closely when they dress and try to correct our own wrongs.

  11. Oh no! Why would someone violate a 3 year old?
Meanwhile that dressing up kids scantily and with heavy makeup is a no-no for me. I know how hard it is for me to step out of my house with some kind of clothing and I know it's only because of the kind of upbringing I had. I definitely wouldn't want to deliberately lead my kids astray 'cause I know it pays not to

  12. This is a really troubling issue..... I remember these girls I knew when I was about 9 or 10. They were about the same age and were always clad in scanty dresses-micro mini skirts and short tops revealing the belly button. Even as young as we were, I knew it was just somehow, especially since their mum didn‘t even mind (anyways she was the one buying the clothes).. Fast forward years later and those girls, now young ladies, are always dressed in jaw dropping ways- tight-fitting, body hugging, cleavage revealing and micro-mini clothes of all types..that they are even well endowed makes it even more scandalous...personally I pity them..but well..

    This is a great post..

  13. Thanks a lot for coming to my blog.
I totally agree with you, indecent dressing has become a thing for girls of all ages. They want to emulate the "stars" they see on TV. Especially for the younger ones, streets are full of them and their parents help them get the cloths or say nothing when they wear them.
How can a mother think of sand when her daughter had itchy vagina? (Confused face) Let's be the change, say no when kids want to try your make up and don't dress in ways you don't want them to.

  14. Most parents dress their children indecently all in the name of making them look "cute" and when they grow up,they continue to dress the way best known to them(half naked)..parents should really learn cuz in every case of child molestation, they played their part in it too.. I really feel sorry for that 3yr old child.

  15. Thanks for this post...I was just raising a ruckus over this matter a couple of days ago. And your entry has inspired me to write about it.

Its a shame how parents indulge their children and are so blind or negligent to what they are doing...its sad that the children end up being victims of their parents at times

  16. this has been a major concern for me too! people keep saying, "aww, so cute" but i actually think its appalling. we shouldn't burden our children with so called fashion trends and trying to make them look "hot".their clothes are meant to be free and comfortable and fun. children should be allowed to be children
